Ladli Behna Yojana eligibility comes down to a short set of rules: an MP resident, married woman aged 21 to 60, from a family earning below Rs 2.5 lakh a year, with none of the listed exclusions. The checker on this page lets you go through those rules one question at a time.
We are an independent explainer site and the result here is only a guide; actual eligibility is decided by the government during verification, and any application happens through official channels only. Below the checker you will find each rule explained, the age limit in detail, and the documents that were asked for.
How the Ladli Behna Yojana eligibility checker works
The checker asks a few yes or no questions: whether you live in MP, your marital status, your age, your family income, and whether anyone in the family pays income tax, has a government job or pension, owns a four-wheeler, holds more than 5 acres, or is (or once was) an MP or MLA. At the end it tells you whether you appear to meet the rules.
Everything runs inside your own browser. Nothing you tick is saved, stored or sent to us or anyone else, and we never ask for your name, Aadhaar or phone number. Close the page and your answers are gone.
Please treat the result as a guide only. It cannot see government records, and the final decision rests with the authorities who verify applications. Also remember that new registrations are closed right now, so a positive result does not mean you can apply today.
The basic conditions every woman must meet
| Condition | Rule |
|---|---|
| Residence | Mool nivasi, that is a native resident, of MP |
| Marital status | Married, or widowed, divorced or left by the husband |
| Age | 21 to 60 years |
| Family income | Combined annual income of the family below Rs 2.5 lakh |
| Caste or category | Any; no restriction |
All of these must be true at the same time. Meeting four out of five is not enough. The Ladli Behna Yojana MP eligibility rules also include a list of exclusions, covered further down, which can rule out a woman even when she meets every basic condition.
Age limit: 21 to 60 years
The Ladli Behna Yojana age limit is 21 to 60. She must have turned 21 on or before 1 January in the year she applies. In the very first phase the minimum age was 23, and it was later lowered to 21, which is why you may still find old articles quoting 23.
At the top end, benefits stop when a woman reaches 60. Such women are pointed towards the old-age pension instead. This is one of the reasons the number of active beneficiaries keeps falling over time. If your payments stopped close to your 60th birthday, that is the likely reason, and you can ask at your panchayat or ward office about the old-age pension.
Who is excluded, even if other rules are met
A woman is not eligible if any of the following applies to her or to her family:
- She or any family member pays income tax.
- She or any family member is a regular, permanent or contractual employee of a central or state government department, undertaking or local body, or receives a government pension.
- Someone in the household has a four-wheeler registered to the family. Tractors are exempt from this rule.
- The family holds more than 5 acres of land in total.
- Anyone in the family is now, or has been, a Member of Parliament or a Member of the Legislative Assembly.
Some websites wrongly list the tractor itself as an exclusion. The rule as reported is the opposite: owning a tractor does not disqualify the family. Note that these exclusions look at the whole family, not just the woman.
Marital status explained
The scheme is meant for married women, and it deliberately includes women whose marriage has ended or broken down. A widow is eligible. A divorced woman is eligible. A woman abandoned by her husband (parityakta) is eligible. An unmarried woman is not eligible, whatever her age or income.
If you are separated but not legally divorced, the abandoned category may be the relevant one; how this is verified is decided by the officials at the time of registration. Our checker treats married, widowed, divorced and abandoned as qualifying answers and unmarried as not qualifying.
Ladli Behna Yojana documents required
For the earlier registration phases, these were the documents and details asked for:
- Samagra family ID and member ID: the state keeps a Samagra register of every household, and each person listed gets a member number.
- Aadhaar card: with Aadhaar e-KYC already completed on the Samagra portal (an online identity check that works through a one-time password on the Aadhaar-registered phone).
- Bank account details: a savings account that belongs to the applicant alone, seeded with her Aadhaar, with DBT turned on (Direct Benefit Transfer).
Ladli Behna Yojana documents in Hindi, or the Ladli Behna Yojana document in Hindi lists you may see, usually read समग्र आईडी, आधार कार्ड and बैंक खाते की जानकारी. This short set is the whole Ladli Behna Yojana MP document list we could confirm, and people searching Ladli Bahan Yojana documents mean the same thing. If a future phase asks for anything else, the official notice will say so. See our e-KYC guide to get the Samagra and bank steps ready in advance.
You meet the rules: what next?
Women already receiving the kist have nothing more to apply for. Just keep Samagra e-KYC done and the bank's DBT switched on, and check your payments with the status check guide.
Those not yet registered will have to wait: the window is shut and no date has been fixed. A remark attributed to the Chief Minister about including missed-out women next year has not been followed by any order. Read our registration page to understand the old process. For the amount and monthly timing, see the kist guide and the main Ladli Behna page.
Looking for Maharashtra or Haryana documents?
Searches for Ladli Behna Yojana documents required for Maharashtra, or a Ladli Behna Yojana Maharashtra document list in Marathi or Hindi, usually refer to Maharashtra's Ladki Bahin scheme. Its rules and documents are set by that state and are not covered by the MP rules above. For that scheme, start with our Maharashtra note.
Haryana's Ladli allowance has its own conditions too, for example a family income ceiling of Rs 2,00,000 a year and payment starting when a parent turns 45. See our Haryana guide for that scheme.
